About the Pine to Prairie GIS User Group

Purpose and Structure

The purpose of the Pine to Prairie GIS User Group is to facilitate interaction between GIS users in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Meetings of the group typically attract attendees from about a 100-mile radius of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. However, anyone who wishes to attend a meeting is welcome to do so. Membership on the web site forums isn’t limited geographically – anyone from around the world can join – the only requirement is an interest in GIS and a desire to participate in the discussion and share your knowledge with other GIS users.

The Pine to Prairie GIS User Group is governed by a volunteer steering committee of GIS users from regions in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Current steering committee membership includes:

  • Brad Brasel, NAU Country Insurance
  • Jim Ellickson, Private Consultant
  • Carol Wickenheiser, Clay County (MN) GIS
  • Ed Schoon, Lake Region Electric Cooperative
  • Mark Volz, Lyon County (MN) GIS

Staff support is provided by Wayne Hurley, West Central Initiative.
